How to Help Your Pet Lose Weight

Pet health solutions

Is your furry, little friend looking a little plump these days? Sometimes, pets gain weight for any one of a number of reasons, and when they do, it can pose more of a health risk to them than you might think. Here are just a few pieces of pet diet advice that can help your animal pal get back to the weight they’re supposed to be.

Talk to Your Vet. – One of the most important things you can do when you think your pet has been putting on weight is talk to your vet the next time you go to the veterinary care center. These trained experts will be able to tell you whether your pet’s weight is an issue, taking into account your pal’s breed, age, and diet. If it is an issue, they’ll be able to offer you some pet diet advice based on their extensive knowledge.

Make Sure You’re Giving Your Pet the Right Food. – Pet foods nowadays come in a variety of scientific formulas. Check to see if there’s another food that may be more appropriate for your dog, one that’s specifically designed for your dog’s size or your dog’s age. You may also be feeding your pet too much, too. Consider scaling back the portions.

Get Your Pet in Shape. – Like humans, the best way for pets to lose weight is to eat less (or better), and to exercise more. Consider getting some new toys for your cat to play with, or a jungle gym tree for them to play around on. IF you own a dog, try going on more walks, or longer ones. You could also get your pal a new ball, or a rope to play tug of war.
